This Week's Taste Of Boston

June brings sunshine, self-defense, and the ultimate Red Sox showdown.

Hi there!

Kick off your week with this DEBUT edition of Beantown Beacon - your go-to guide for what’s happening in Boston and what’s shifting beneath the surface.

Life is short, Boston is big. And the time is now. Here’s what's happening this week around the neighborhoods, on the streets, and behind the scenes.

In today’s edition, we explore local events (if you are a Red Sox fan, you’ll want to read this), a fun tip, and a special overview of what this weekend was all about.

THIS WEEK’S EVENTS

Join the Civic Summit 2025 - “Be the Change”

Location: Boston University - Questrom School of Business
Date: June 7th, 2025

Join over 300 residents, leaders, and change-makers for a day of interactive workshops, dialogue, and vision-building around Boston’s civic future. This year’s theme, “Be the Change,” focuses on creating inclusive, people-powered solutions for a better Boston. If you want to make a difference in the city you’re proudest of, be sure to attend.

FREE Self-Defense Classes At The Greenway

Location: Rose Kennedy Greenway
Date: Every Thursday at 5:15pm-6:15pm

Thurdays ae officially “learn to kick butt” day at The Greenway. Learn self-defense from the masters at the UFC GYM Boston, and it doesn’t cost a penny (but maybe a tooth). Want to learn how to flip someone over your shoulder? Well, you may not learn how to do it, but isn’t the possibility of it magical? Learn to defend yourself!

Boston Red Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels

Location: Fenway Park
Date: June 4th, 2025 @ 1:35pm

There’s nothing quite like a night at Fenway. This week, the Red Sox face off against the L.A. Angels in a classic showdown of East Coast grit versus West Coast flash! Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just in it for the Fenway Franks and seventh-inning stretch, this is your excuse to be part of Boston’s living sports history. Grab your cap and rally the crew.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Small actions make a big difference.

Trying new things is the way of a true Bostonian (it’s a word, look it up!) Consider changing up your routine, even if just for one day this week.

Here are some of our thoughts. Try:

  • Taking a book to the park instead of sitting at home

  • Taking a different road on your morning commute

  • Rooting for a team you despise (or maybe not)

THIS WEEKEND’S SPOTLIGHT

The festivities include the “Portraits of Pride Soiree” at Winthrop Center, the “Pride Kickoff Sapphic Nights Yacht Party” at Fan Pier Marina, and the “Pride Rooftop House Party” at Sam Adams Downtown Boston Taproom. This sets the stage for the upcoming Boston Pride Parade and Festival on June 14th, 2025, themed “Here to Stay,” emphasizing the resilience and unity of this community.

This is The Beantown Beacon Team signing off. Until we speak again, enjoy your week!
